Navi Mumbai : The first day of school marks a significant milestone in every student’s educational journey. To make this occasion memorable and joyful, the Education Department of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has made elaborate preparations for the annual ‘Shala Praveshotsav’ (School Admission Festival). As part of the initiative, the Mayor, civic office-bearers, elected representatives, Municipal Commissioner, and senior officials will visit various schools to personally welcome students on the opening day of the new academic year.
The new academic session will commence on Monday, June 15, across 80 NMMC schools, including 57 primary schools and 23 secondary schools, in a festive and enthusiastic atmosphere. To ensure that students cherish their first day at school, NMMC has planned a special welcome ceremony where children will be greeted with bouquets, flowers, and warm applause.
The primary objective of the School Admission Festival is to create enthusiasm for schooling among students, foster a positive learning environment, and encourage greater parental involvement in their children’s education. On this occasion, municipal office-bearers, public representatives, officers, and staff members will visit schools and interact with students and parents.
Students will also receive textbooks, educational materials, and information about various government welfare schemes on the very first day of school. Special welcome programmes have been organised for newly admitted students, recognising the importance of their first step into formal education.
School campuses have been attractively decorated for the celebrations, and several schools have planned cultural performances and engaging activities to make the day enjoyable and memorable for children.
Expressing confidence in the initiative, Deputy Commissioner (Education) Sangharatna Khillare and Education Officer Ashok Kadus said that the programme would help develop a positive attitude towards education among students, make their first day at school a happy experience, and encourage out-of-school children to join the mainstream education system.
The civic administration hopes that the School Admission Festival will inspire students to embrace learning with enthusiasm and begin the new academic year on a positive note.
