Political Muscle Flexed at Matoshree as Thackeray MPs Rally Behind Leadership
Thackeray Camp Closes Ranks: All 9 MPs Attend Key Matoshree Meet, Split Rumours Crushe
Mumbai: In a significant display of unity amid ongoing political turbulence in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray convened a crucial meeting of all nine party MPs at his residence, Matoshree, on Sunday. The meeting effectively put an end to speculation about a possible split within the party, with all MPs marking their presence either physically or virtually.
Addressing the gathering, Thackeray urged party leaders and workers not to be misled by rumours being spread by political opponents. He emphasized the need for continuous engagement with grassroots workers and directed MPs to focus on public issues, including farmers’ loan waivers and constituency concerns, rather than political distractions.
The meeting gained added significance amid reports of the ruling Shiv Sena faction’s alleged “Operation Tiger” aimed at poaching opposition MPs. However, the full attendance of all nine MPs was projected by the Thackeray camp as a strong message of internal cohesion.
Adding to the party’s show of unity, Nashik MP Rajabhau Waje categorically dismissed reports of defection and reiterated his commitment to Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut launched a sharp attack on rivals following the meeting, declaring, “All our MPs stand firmly with Uddhav Thackeray. Those dreaming of breaking our party should remember — we can turn their ‘Tiger’ into a wolf.”
While leaders from the Shinde camp continued to make conflicting claims regarding possible defections, the Matoshree meeting emerged as a decisive political statement from the Thackeray faction, reinforcing its grip over the party and countering narratives of internal unrest.
